Privacy Policy

1. Overview

ChartGPT ("we", "our", or "us") is a Google Sheets add-on that uses artificial intelligence to generate charts from your spreadsheet data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it.

ChartGPT's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

2. Data We Access

When you use ChartGPT, we access the following data through Google OAuth:

  • Google Account email address — used solely to identify your account and associate your subscription tier. We do not access your Google Contacts, Gmail, Google Drive, or any other Google product beyond Sheets.
  • Google Sheets data — the cell values, column headers, and selected ranges you explicitly provide when requesting a chart. We access only the data you highlight or reference in a prompt.

3. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used for one purpose only: to generate the chart you requested.

  • Your spreadsheet data is sent to the AI model to interpret and create the chart.
  • Your data is not stored on our servers beyond the duration of a single request.
  • Your data is never sold, shared with third parties for advertising, or used to train AI models.
  • Your email address is stored in our database solely to manage your subscription status (Free or Pro).

4. Third-Party AI Providers

ChartGPT forwards your spreadsheet data to one of the following AI providers depending on the model you select. Each provider operates under its own privacy policy:

Data sent to these providers is governed by their respective terms of service and privacy policies. We use these providers only via their API (server-side), not via any consumer product, and we select API options that opt out of data training where available.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your email address and subscription status for as long as your account exists. Spreadsheet data is not retained — it exists only in memory during the API call and is discarded immediately after.

To delete your account and all associated data, email support@chartgpt.app with the subject line "Delete my account". We will process your request within 30 days.

6. Google API Services — Limited Use Disclosure

ChartGPT's use of information received from Google APIs is limited to:

  • Providing and improving ChartGPT's chart generation feature.
  • We do not use Google user data to develop, improve, or train generalized AI or ML models.
  • We do not allow humans to read user data unless required by law, with explicit user consent, or for security purposes after anonymization.

7. Cookies & Analytics

This website uses minimal, essential cookies for session management (authentication state). We do not use advertising cookies or share browsing data with third-party ad networks.

8. Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. API keys (for users who supply their own) are stored encrypted at rest and are never logged or exposed in plain text.

9. Children's Privacy

ChartGPT is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of ChartGPT after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
